Newcomer Event (After stakeholder climate surveys and the constant immigration of non-English-speaking families and refugees to Henrico County, Virginia, the Office of Equity, Diversity, and Opportunity organized and executed the "Action for Equity" Newcomer Event highlighted resources and employment opportunities for Henrico County families who just migrated or fled. Resource, communication, and employment access are major issues for these families)

Received the Henrico NAACP Action Award in 2022 for the work of equity and diversity in support of students and staff within Henrico County Public Schools

Received a "Best Achievement" award from the Virginia Association of Counties (VACo), which is the highest honor award for the Equity Ambassador program in 2021
Received a Community Award in 2021 for efforts with addressing the needs of under-resourced families and students during the community shutdown that took place at the height of the COVID epidemic
As a result of championing, our district became the first school district to adopt a Diversity Calendar that includes time off for diverse cultural holidays. Later served as a co-chair for the statewide Diversity Calendar & Inclusive School-Based Meals Committee in 2021.
Our committee provided recommendations to PreK-State through colleges on the most effective methods for creating a more inclusive calendar and meals. As a result of our efforts, our district became the first school district to adopt a Diversity Calendar that includes time off for diverse cultural holidays.
Served on the Commission on African American History Education which was established by Gov. Ralph Northam executive order Thirty-Nine establishing the Commission on African American History Education (2019)
The commission was tasked with thoroughly examining Virginia’s history standards and professional development practices to improve the way African American history is taught in Virginia schools. Commission members included civil rights leaders, historians, school superintendents, faith leaders and educators.
